Veggie Portobello Mushroom Burger Recipe (Veggie Burger)

For more intense flavor and carmelization on your portobello’s, based tops of mushrooms with extra marinade and flip more than once during the 10 min. time.
Ingredients
4 whole portobellos, stems removed
4 large wheat hamburger buns
1 small red onion, sliced
1 whole red and yellow bell pepper
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup Sake to Me Original, Hottie, or Sweet-Hottie Marinade
1/8 cup olive oil
Directions
Take two portobello’s washed off with stems removed and place into small zip-lock so that tops of mushrooms face each other and stem side face outer side of bag.
Add 1/3 cup of marinade into bag and seal. Shake up bag making sure marinade gets into all ridges of the mushrooms. Proceed to do this with the other existing mushrooms and place into the refrigerator to marinate for 30 min.
Wash off peppers and cut in half and then half again. So you should have four quarters of each pepper. Place in a small bowl and mix with olive oil making sure to cover each pepper thoroughly.
When portobello’s are almost done marinating, heat grill on high for 5 min.
Turn grill to low and place portobello’s with stems down directly on grill including bell peppers for 5 min.
After 5 minutes, based tops of mushrooms with extra marinade and flip over. This is the time to flip your peppers as well. Your peppers should be getting flimsy and easier to lay flat.
After last 5 minutes, flip mushrooms back over and baste one more time with marinade. Turn off grill and add sliced onions and then shredded mozzarella on top of portobello’s. Also lay hamburger buns on grill as well to toast. Cover for 3 min.
After 3 min. take one of each red and yellow peppers that is still on the grill and lay on each portobello in a crisscross fashion so they look like an X.
Using a spatula, take each portobello off the grill and lay on each bun with top. Let cool a little before cutting in half to let everything settle and enjoy!
